Grant of the Studienförderfonds Siegen e.V. (amount 1,250€ per semester or rather 2,500€/year)

The support program for students consists of financial support, immaterial support and the prospect, after the year of financial support, to be transferred into a student assistant position. Grants are awarded in addition to the qualification for a financial need.

Financial Support
The scholarships of the Studienförderungsfonds amount to 2,500 € per year.
A share of the scholarship of 150 € per month is awarded as study fee (in particular for literature procurement, work materials or congress visits).

Ideational Support
In addition to financial support, the Studienförderfonds Siegen e. V. also offers support, which contributes to the development of personality or help the scholarship holder to find employment. This is the immaterial support. It includes cultural events, company visits, specialist lectures, application training, business talks, excursions, scholarship holder meetings and the like.

Study Supporting Employment
Furthermore, the possibility exists, to be transferred into a student assistant position, after the end of the year of financial support.

Application Requirements

German and foreign students enrolled at the University of Siegen can apply. Prerequisite for asset-based sponsoring of the gifted and talented is the BAföG authorization (BAföG statement that you do not receive BAföG or how much BAföG funding you receive) and at least average academic achievement.

Selection Procedure

The Studienförderfonds Siegen e.V. accepts the applications and checks them for formal correctness.
Asset-dependent support is decided upon by the association's board. Interviews are possible.

Amount of Support

The scholarships of the Studienförderfonds basically amount to 2,500 euros per year. This amount will be paid in two installments of € 1,250 per semester at the beginning of the semester directly to the scholarship holder's account. A portion of the scholarship amounting to 150, - Euro per month will be awarded in each case as a study fee (in particular for literature, work materials or congress visits).
An extension of the scholarship is only possible in exceptional cases. The subsequent placement in student assistant jobs within and outside the university is aimed at.

Application Procedure

When applying for a scholarship, applicants must indicate whether and how much they receive from another scholarship. This duty to notify persists while receiving the scholarship.
The notification of the grant / non-approval of the scholarship will be made in writing by the rector without any indication of any reasons.

Obligation to Report

The scholarship holders are under the obligation to turn in a report at the end of each semester. In this report they are to disclose the progress of their studies.

Cessation of Support for Non-Compliance with Sponsorship Criteria

Support is stopped at the end of the semester if the scholarship holder does not comply with the criteria which formed the basis of the sponsorship.
The scholarship holder is under obligation to notify the Studienförderfonds Siegen e.V. of any and all changes in his or her financial situation..

Notification of the BAföG office

If you receive a scholarship and at the same time have submitted a scholarship application to the BAföG office, you undertake to inform the BAföG office that your application for scholarship has been approved.
