Deutschlandstipendium (300 € per month or rather 3,600 € per year

The funding program for students consists of financial support and ideational support.

  • Financial Support:
    The scholarships generally amount to 300 € per month (i.e. 3600€/year)
  • Ideational Support:
    In addition to financial support, the Studienförderfonds Siegen e. V. also provides offers which contribute to the personality development and career, or job finding of the scholarship holders. This is the ideational support. It includes cultural events, company visits, specialist lectures, application training, business talks, excursions, scholarship meetings and the like.

I. Requirement for Application and Award

  • Students can apply for a scholarship if they:
    • meet the application prerequisites of the study program – and
    • are just about to enter the University of Siegen, or are already registered.
  • Students who perform extraordinarily well in their studies or job, or can be expected to do so, are supported.
  • A scholarship is not possible for students who receive a grant or performance-dependent financial support through another funding institution (exclusion of double funding). This does not apply if the sum of this support per semester, for which the grant was approved, falls below a monthly average of 30 euros.

 

II. Application

  • Your application is made via the online application form (only active during the application period). Additional documents must be enclosed with the application. application information!) 
  • The rector notifies you of award/non-award of your scholarship in writing without stating additional reasons.

 

III. Selection criteria

  • Scholarships are awarded according to talent and performance
  • For the overall consideration of the potential of the applicant, the following criteria are also considered
    • special achievements, awards and prizes, previous professional activity and internships
    • extracurricular commitment as a volunteer, civic and social activities, political or political commitment or participation in religious societies, associations or federations
    • personal or family circumstances such as illnesses and disabilities, childcare, in particular as a single parent, or a close relative who is in need of care, cooperation in the family enterprise, studying while holding a job, family background or migratory background.
  • in addition to the grades, the selection will be influenced by an expert opinion and, if appropriate, an opinion / conversation protocol, based on a conversation with a university lecturer.

 

IV. Award

  • Scholarships can also be given to students working on their second degree.
  • There is no legal right to the granting of the scholarship.
  • The scholarship is awarded independently of income.
  • The scholarship holder may not be obliged to provide any trade-off, or any work performance as return service for the scholarship. The scholarship does not constitute an employment relationship.

 

V. Duration of the Award, Amount of the Scholarship

  • the scholarship is usually granted for two semesters. Thereafter the scholarship may be extended upon request. The duration of the promotion is determined by the regular study time in the respective course of study.
  • the scholarship is also paid during the lecture-free period and a foreign study-related stay.
  • The scholarship will not be paid during the period of leave of absence.
  • The monthly allowance of this scholarship is 300 €.
  • The scholarship is awarded independently of income.
  • The scholarship holder may not be obliged to provide any trade-off, or any work performance as return service for the scholarship. The scholarship does not constitute an employment relationship.
  • The scholarship ends at the end of that month during which the student/holder has
    • Finished the last examination
    • Broke off the studies
    • changed the major topic or
    • is de-registered

VI. Continuation of Support and Report

  • • At the end of the appropriation period, continuation must be decided upon, if requested by the scholarship holder. The continuation of the support assumes the continued availability of scholarship funds. It shall be carried out on the basis of a review of the performance during the first funding period. The scholarship holders must provide a report on the progress made during their studies at the latest four weeks before the end of the appropriation period. The review of the services will be based on a list of the services provided and the results obtained by the respective Examinations Office. The documents are to be submitted upon application. Specific personal or family circumstances, under which the service has been provided, are taken into account.
  • Appropriation continuation is granted for one year each.
  • Funding is possible at the most to the end of regular study time.

 

VII. Cessation of Support for non-Compliance

  • If a scholarship holder fails to meet the criteria that were the basis for the scholarship, the continuation of the scholarship will be terminated. Funding may be revoked if the scholarship holder fails to comply with his / her co-operation obligations, or is receiving additional funding, or it is determined that the eligibility and performance requirements for the scholarship no longer apply.
  • The scholarship holder undertakes to notify all changes which are relevant to the granting of the scholarship without delay.


VIII. Notification of the BAföG Office

  • • If you wish to receive a scholarship and at the same time apply for a grant application to the BAföG Office, you are obliged to inform the BAföG Office that you will receive a scholarship. Generally, benefit grants (awarded becaus of good performances) of up to Euro 300 will not affect your funding under BAföG.


IX. Notice of Consent

  • With your application, you agree that your data may be used by the Studienförderfonds Siegen e. V. for selection purposes, and can be forwarded to the persons involved in the selection process.
  • The University of Siegen is obligated to notify your local tax office of the payments. For this purpose, you must provide the university with the necessary data (Finanzamt / tax number).
  • The university is obliged to submit statistical data for each scholarship holder as well as for private funding to the Federal Ministry of Education and Research on a calendar year basis.
